  9. @ it’s not enough, he wants to implement a tax cut of 4 trillion usd. Just suppressing federal services is not enough, he needs to get to Medicaid, Medicare and social security. It will be another battle in court, but you’ll see. It is the very last step. The tax cut, again skewed to people making 7 figures, is scheduled for March. You will get 1000 usd, the better off get up to 60,000 usd. Just like the first Trump tax cut. You can go see for yourself, plenty of analyses of this tax cut by income decile.

  11. @ because it is not about fiscal responsibility. You know why? Look at the ‘shocking examples’ they give, the amounts they represent. It is less than 0.01% of the total budget. I challenge everyone to have an audit in a company to find less than 0.05% waste. Of course government has the right to choose what it spends budget on, no discussion there, but freezing (which is actually cancelling) ongoing engagements and contracts is not the proper way. It means that all the money invested before is often lost as well. The freeze for foreign aid takes 90 days. What happens in practice is that by then all staff is fired, in some case the company or partner is already broke. It would have been more appropriate to say, we are reviewing and in three months we decide which contracts will not be continued. These actions reflect pure hate and revenge with the aim of doing as much damage. Why?

  12. @ you can calculate yourself. He needs to get to 4 trillion over X years in additional tax cut. With just cutting discretionary funding, he doesn’t get there. What remains is mandatory funding being Medicaid, Medicare, ss. He may target all three, he may target 1 or 2. It does not matter what I think, we will see in about a month for now.

He claims trade deficits, but the truth is that the US runs trade surpluses with almost all countries if you include services (consumer, financial etc). The US is mainly a service economy. How many do facebook, instagram, apple store, playstore, netflix, disney, etc draw from other countries. And the American banks and consultancy firms…
