Countries trade because country 1 produces product1 more cost-efficient, while country 2 produces product2 more cost-efficient and then they trade these. Both parties win. If you force them both to be as cost-efficient on both products or add tariffs killing trade (a third country will be more cost-efficient next), everyone loses out. That is why markets crash.

It represent 37% in absolute terms . So the world spends two times more than the US.

I believe that more sustainable longer term investments are companies producing more wind mills. Never bet on one horse.
