  66. Lyle Goldstein is very insightful, I may not agree with him on certain issue, but overall he is really in touch with reality. On Taiwan issue, there is this insight that’s not widely known by the west. Taiwan DPP party assisted HK 2019 protest, in the effort to prove to the world particularly to west countries political hemisphere, one country two system wouldn’t work that China failed to honor Basic Law. Taiwan DPP party advocates separatism for Taiwan independence, deliberately abandoned 1992 Consensus to cut off all means of official mutual communication and talks. Generational brainwashing to cut off cultural and genetic connection to mainland China through political ideologies, such as Taiwan has ‘democratic’ system, when China is being labeled as fearful ‘authoritarian’ ‘Communism’ which undertone is designed to inflict fears and animosity toward Mainlanders, just like in the US. same hate/fear propaganda. Taiwan’s current political environment is as toxic as in US toward China mainland. For decades, Mainlander has always viewed Taiwan people are their brothers and sisters, but the mainlanders began to learn harsh truth that newer Taiwan generations increasingly grew animosity toward mainlanders, thanks to systemic textbook and media brainwashing. Taiwan toxic politics is widening the gap between them. And the Covid pandemic seems to be the tipping point that the mainlanders finally accept the harsh reality that Taiwan people truly hate mainlanders, because Taiwan DPP politicians refused to send any mask to mainland, put aside politics, anyone would land a helping hand for diplomatic or humanitarian aids, but Taiwan sent zero and meanwhile constantly ridiculed and mocked mainlanders by calling Wuhan virus, they refuse to call COVID-19 up till this day, and they also band with US to bash WHO and called for WHO director to resign. Anyway, in short, Mainlanders are extremely disappointed and now have changed their views on Taiwan people, they view Taiwan DPP leaning people nasty and heartless. China Beijing has always been kind to Taiwan people, and implemented many benefits and privileges programs designed for Taiwan people in effort of keep good relations. But it seems one sided effort is not enough to keep good relation while Taiwan DPP is eager to draw disconnection from mainland. Taiwan economy is heavily depending on Mainland, yet their political relation is so hostile to China, this sounds like Australia to China as well. With DPP cut off any talk platform with mainland, and with US playing Taiwan as a geopolitical pawn to pressure and provoke China, what choice does China have to Taiwan? Beijing official’s tone toward Taiwan is not as soft as before, but still extremely cautious, China does not use force lightly, especially Taiwan is still considered as part of families. But Beijing also has to prepare the possibility in using military force ONLY if under the unacceptable provocation from US that violates One China policy, otherwise Beijing would not ever consider using force on Taiwan. You see the full picture here, who is the real aggressor here to instigate internal conflict? Without US presence and provocation, China and Taiwan will leave each other along if both honors One China principle. DPP actually sweared under the oath of ROC constitution, so it DPP declares independence, it violates both One China policy and ROC constitution.
