  1. If he actually does launch a campaign they should be. They're going to try to stop him before that. When they control everything and they're still scared of this guy he is a major threat to them. Problem is simply killing him makes him a martyr and doesn't kill the movement. They have to defeat him in order to not create a martyr. They're scared they can't even do that.

  2. Same. A Trump win in 2024 would finish them off in more ways than one. At least for a decade or two. It would be the ultimate humiliation. Other defeats they can take and say they lost on some things but gained on others. This would be an all-out loss with no gains. God I hope he gets that chance. It would mean that no matter if they took someone out before they could come back instead of permanently keep them out of the game. It would take away their public perception of invincibility once someone was taken out of the game if someone can come back. That perception must be crushed and can very well be.
