I don't understand how being forty points behind is so hard to understand. If you can't hope to win the primary because you are out flanked that badly, you can not win the general even if it was fair. Especially if a bunch of those people are willing to break rank against party if there is a disqualification. Edit: And if he had heart failure he wouldn't be doing rallies and large public appearances all the time. He would campaign a different way.

The sad thing is that I was totally on board for his 2028 run. After the last few months, i've had to reconsider.

Of the people running he is the only one who has, you mean. Out of the governors who actually have a shot, he is probably one of about 6 or 7 that have really made a name for themselves. But they didn't tarnish their potency for the next cycle with an ill-advised run. There are a handful of senators and representatives who also match that achievement as well. I'm not sure if he can salvage his 2028 bid at this point, but he definitely won't if he loses his own state in the primary. If he does, his presidential career is pretty much over, If it is not already (and that includes if Trump doesn't win 2024.)

Christ I wouldn't vote for either.

@bobroberts8500 Not single polls but aggregartes, yes- to an extent. Campaigns do factor in polling in their strategy for a reason. It isn't the only gauge they use but it definitely helps. Depending on where you are, you can also just kind of read the temperature in the room. I know DeSantis has about fifteen percent support among voters nationwide as the choice for the general, But I have never once seen DeSantis 2024 shirts or hats. I should at least have seen 1 or 2 by now where I live which is a purple suburb. Seen plenty of Trump stuff in this swing area. And that's to say nothing of the rural areas I've been to recently. It's done man. Unless he dies or is disqualified, he is it as the candidate.

@Dreamonology They wish, but they can not do so without a constitutional amendment

I wouldn't go that far but I think it would definitely help to have him in again. It definitely increases chances and is a big leap.

@yatarookayama8329 Except that deep state cash gets. I just can't ignore that. Along with Bush support and the fact that 200 million dollars raised in Trump raised at pre midterms rallies on his own were taken by McConnell and given to a DeSantis pac for campaign that did not yet exist. That was my first red flag. That money was not meant for a single campaign. Slimy AF. The last few months only cemented that. As a non Republican independent conservative. I don't care if it's the GOP's end. If Trump wins in the general up theirs. Based on their behavior I say he has a decent chance regardless of honking. But if they just qualify him, I guarantee it might just kill the republican party. Technically also a win as the uniparty act would be over.

While that would help, I assure you he is perfectly capable of handicapping them at the same time. The gop will probably get the senate but it might lose the house. They can take back the house in the subsequent midterms. He does some of his best work when he's up against a lot of adversity anyways.

They will be notably silent when you bring up East Palestine and how Trump beat them there, whereas Biden himself never showed up.

@bobroberts8500 incorrect on both counts.

Same. Luckily i'm a night owl

His 2028 chances are probably mostly gone. But if he loses the primary in his own state against Trump for the presidency, they are gone for sure. He is never going to have the same potency that he had before he declared this run for this primary. That cat is out of the bag.
