  3. You have to factor in that self driving cars will be driving much more cautious and defensive than humans. That alone will reduce likelihood of accidents. Yes it's gonna be annoying for the human drivers around them, deal with it. As for liability my prediction is that car manufacturers will assume that risk. It's basically product liability. Monetary risk will be taken by manufacturers (or fleet operators) either directly or by including insurance coverage. First manufactuer who offers this will take the market and put pressure on everyone else. That will incentivize them to improve safety which is desirable, so society will likely support that scenario with suitable legislation (product liability).
