  1. Some meta-tip: As far as your workplace is concerned, always maintain the initiative, i.e. don't wait to get fired - but fire your employer before he/she can fire you. That way you won't end up in a situation where you are under time pressure to take a new job. Great jobs aren't available at all times - it may take a couple of months for an opportunity to emerge. That's why when you feel that you aren't valued any more or you can't provide the value the company expects from you, you should look out for the next job so you can quit before getting fired.
