Not know which one you worked for I think from the outside Panasonic looks rather "adventurous". What do you think?

I am convinced modern cars look so broken up because carmakers want to hide how humongously big these cars are. If they'd make honest simple surfaces people would immediately realize they are driving obese versions of what they think they are driving. I haven't seen the Cybertruck in real life yet but as image it looks not very big, probably because its shape us unusual.

The reality of today's public transport is that everybody stares at their mobile phone. But maybe it feels less threatening to face each other when you share a vehicle with strangers.

I think the idea is that those autonomous vehicles will be killing far fewer people than current human-operated designs. And the end game is to make them a service so that would essentially be a public transport, except not funded/subsidized by taxpayers.

My mum grew up on a farm riding horses and she said horses would go faster when going home.

Regarding the last part: most (not all) companies are one-trick ponies. It's surprising how much companies struggle to branch out to a new business that is not just a derivative of what they are already successful at. I don't think it has to do with their employees being stupid - I suspect it's more a sign that creating a large successful (profitable) business from scratch is incredibly hard. Part of the problem is that for a large company to re-invent itself the new business has to be of similar size (opportunity), otherwise it will not receive sufficient resources (attention, capital, manpower). In this context I am looking forward to see how Tesla will do with their robot. It's obvious now that they dropped the ball on the solar PV division.
