Probably also worth noting: be very careful about what documents you sign as you leave the company. One of my former employers wanted me to sign a severance contract that would place additional non-disclosure burden on me and limit their liability with zero upside for me. I took a lawyer (it cost about $250) and she pointed out the issues in that contract and I just ended up not signing it. Other than that it was done you suggested, very professional, but that didn't mean that higher-ups/legal did not want to force their "standard procedure". So if any significant amount of money is involved (like potential severance payment or bonus not yet paid out) it's likely worth getting professional legal advice for a few hundred bucks.
