We recently got an electric kettle that can also heat water to 40°C and 70°C. This is useful if you just want to warm up milk or warm up something else, but not boil it: heat water to 70°C, pour it in pot, then carefully place glass of milk in pot. Since amount of milk is usually less then the water in the pot milk will only warm up no more than half way to 70°C or about 40°C so about body temperature.

@TechnologyConnections Well in my home town they are scrambling now as the coal power plant will be shut down and now they need to find a solution to replace 1500MW(thermal) for all the district heating customers (~60% of metro area) who are used to super-low prices.

I almost thought you'd say "The detergent is doing all the work, the dishwasher is just applying it to all the dishes."

Great example of first principles thinking there.

He said "latent heat of evaporation". That's how deep this went. Anyway, I got suckered into one of those as a wine refrigerator. That is a thing in Europe. And those seem to almost always be Peltier-based (going after the EU energy efficiency label, which they almost all score in the worst category) - it's advertised to consume 300kWh per annum which is about 100€ (~$110) per annum of operating cost. So this thing is sucking dry my wallet and wife is watching over it like a hawk. It already cost more to operate than to re-buys its entire content (of presumably high-quality wine) as it can hold only 16 bottles. So encouraged by this video I tried to find an actual heat-pump based wine refrigerator, but there seems to be only one manufacturer and the product is not available.

I just checked, there actually are test sprays for smoke detectors available for purchase. Price range from $3 to $20 a can. Some made specifically for photoelectric smoke alarms so you do need to know what type of alarm you have.

@NoobNoobNews Actually I used to rent an apartment with "french doors" when I was living in Vienna as a single. That imperial feeling. The realtor also knew exactly how to sell it: open both wings, step aside and shut up. However, they were full wooden doors, so depending on weather they would get stuck a little bit. The ceiling height in that apartment was also ridiculous, I think about 3.5m - that is about 11 or 12 feet (adds to the imperial feeling, btw.)

Speaking of which, I am just now wondering whether there is a topic where you need to say "but on the other hand" twice, which would require you to have three hands.
