100K cash still requires decades of working and being lucky!!!
1
Well no some people just will never be in a good situation to get wealthy. Money only works in so many ways....
1
In part because that seems like that was not all he was making. If I remember right he was paid way more than the legal minimum. SO no he could live on less than he was making but today at the legal minimum is impossible.
1
Yeah right income matters not just behavior!
1
Well how is $15 to $17 an hour that much more when in some places housing prices have doubled?!!!🙄
1
Yep he made good incomes and had low expenses. SO much of outcome it just luck and not behavior but no YouTuber talks outcomes based on conditions....
1
@VincentChan How can you say that when you make so many videos about money?
1
As long as they pay do you really expect him to do anything?
1
What does most people have to do with someone being able to save, invest or whatever below the poverty line? Who you know making equal to the poverty line who is not broke in old age depending on S.S. and Pensions?
1
Dude he is a financial youtuber. Have you not noticed they get paid a lot AND getting views about finance related stuff online is much easier than many other niches. He and Andrew Ji... both use similar thumbnails too.

If you have any friends they can tip you money if they sign up (I assume your friends have crypto.)

No it is way more complex than that. I know because of all my siblings only one of us make equal to my parents current income(s). So even though houses cost almost double from 30 years ago peoples' incomes are not double? As a result housing should be more unaffordable at present.
1
@gamewithadam7235 Well no 40K income means a house over 200K will not work..... The most I can afford in housing is around 1K per month for the rent. So no finding a house in that price range means 1 hour minimum from the better locations which then in turns means 15K to 30K cars because a old car with lots of parts to replace just will not work. The situation was often complex but truth is my parents made more than their parents did so I think the future generations need to make more than the previous generation(s) because prices will rise for basic goods. The way loans work is the same way they worked 30 to 40 years ago so no I can't just look for a house. Houses are not cars they don't go do just because they are old with too few new houses being built.
1
@gamewithadam7235 Not sure that is a thing in my area. See some places have zoning restrictions and other laws about minimum size dwellings. Then there is the problem that renting a place per month in an ok neighborhood is at minimum about 1K per month per year. The rental situation is even worse in some places with housing cost more than that per month just to rent not even to own. I am sure there are ways but it will cost more in wear and tear cost because the cheapest places tend to have the least job opportunities close by.
1
That still might not make type majority a millionaire. If wages are 50K many have only made a few million in a life time.
1
@dawnr6381 The phones only cost $1,500 new so the problem might be an income issue. Not sure 1K should make a huge difference if people are outpacing expenses but huge margins.
1
Well but in the past dollars could buy more stuff..... So going without also might have been more temporary vs. now with both high prices and high income because buying power might really be less than before!!
1
Well not going to work the same because there are few smaller homes being built as far as I can tell. All the newish houses are starting at 200K everywhere I have looked.
1
@la6136 Yeah but the internet is full of exceptions because the rule likely does not sell well enough.
1
For certain cities and states it is. I know more than one person in CA that struggle making a little less. However outside of the exceptions that income seems super good.
1
Yep but no they know all that BUT when creating content saying it might lower engagement and then there are the self help and blame people.... Yeah he is not likely being honest but making money seems to almost require people to ignore "reasons" .... Like one dude online said he saved money on rent and other things to reach 100K in his 20's... but you know in the video he was not super focusing on how much the rent saved him!!!!
1
A good job and future good jobs is the key!!!! Income will allow for options most people can't save and invest their way out of finincial issues.
1
yep chance is like that but problem is there are just a few ways to increase one's odds
1
Yep the answer was he was not making minimum wage. In 2009 I made $12 an hour while the minimum wage was $9. The difference in buying power was large enough to both live on my own without any assistance and pay a 35K school loan off too at the same time. On $9 that would have all been impossible. Also I think Reed was former military, worked an ok paying job, and never had any major huge expenses..... all good factors in his favor.
1
Your wages sound like they went up 1K per month which seems significant all by itself.....

Why not ask for an increase in Christmas bonus instead? Some employers put their bonus in gift card format or in Christmas envelopes in cash? Just a thought.
1
I thought they were talking about median home prices then and now?
1
@gamewithadam7235 The previous generation making 40k to 60K could afford a median house at multiple less than the current generation also making the median.... How much more fair a comparison do you want? Something is not affordable if the median price is higher than a median income can afford when in the past that was not the case.
1
@gamewithadam7235 What you sure. My mom and dad both averaged 40K minimum over the last few years AND starting pay for many jobs that required advance education was in that range too. Today people in some jobs only make about 5K more for the same job title than they did 30 year ago. 31K is not plenty if people are looking to buy a house in the 200 to 300K range. And houses of similar size were going for about 100K 30 years ago and I know this because a dude came into my work and told me so.

Well the banker can likely work till death b/c the job is less physically demanding....
