There's quite bit of evidence cell phones worked from altitude on high speed jetliners in 2001. The largest study on the subject was conducted in 2003, and tracked 37 commercial flights up and down the East Cost, and found that cell calls were made at all phases of flight; more specifically about 40% of these flights confirmed cell phone connections from the cruise phase.
Needless to, say you won't find a single reference to this study if you consume an exclusive diet of truth movement articles. Of course if the study had confirmed their bias, this would be front page news in The Truther Times. This shows who has been brainwashed and who hasn't. You also have Telecom experts who stated it's possible. Don't be shy. Try calling one yourself, as I did. You might learn some interesting things, such as that back then most cell phones were analog, which had a greater range.
The claim it was common knowledge cell phones could not work in this context should have caused you to ask, why would the government embrace something everyone knows is impossible? Similarly, if airfones were useless, there would have been no market for them.
It is plain your claims are not based on a thoroughgoing analysis. And that governments and airlines aren't as brazenly stu-id as you seem to imagine.
