  1. While one can't have 100% safety, looking more and more to me that bunk deck should never have been certified as safe. Given all the other overkill of regulations everywhere else, this seems like a pretty serious hazard.

  2. And quite disgusting the company has already invoked an ancient mariner provision strictly limiting their liability. They won't gain much sympathy from this move. Maybe they panicked after getting advice from a maritime lawyer. I hear the diving boat community is like a big family. Doesn't seem like a very family oriented position to take.
