  1. I think that's an understandable reaction. But one error I think many people make is the assumption every predator knows that what he does can cause a ruined life. I have many friends who seem to not get it either. That says to me we aren't born knowing this fact. You have to learn about it by delving into the subject. This is no excuse for what they do. But I think punishment has to take some consideration of intent, just like we do with drunk drivers.

  2. I'm afraid not. Yes, I think everyone knows this is deplorable. BUT, not everyone seems to realize how horrific the emotional damage can be. That's probably one reason why some people I know have not expressed nearly as much outrage. They don't completely get it. If they don't, then it shouldn't be so mysterious why some pedo types don't fully get it either.
