Take controlled demolition. Step back for a moment and ask a more basic question: for what purpose? By 9:37 that morning, America was already deeply united in their belief we were at war with terrorists. Go back and read the words of air traffic controllers and pilots between 9am and 945. They felt they were fighting an unprecedented war. And they were. I recently read two riveting books publishing these incredible conversations.
