  1. I would say that if there's no difference in theory between analog and digital, then I would conclude that in practice most digital remasterings falls short of the ideal. Again and again I am struck by the "hardness" factor when I make my own piano recordings with a DAT machine, or listen to the majority of remastering of piano recordings. Digital tends to make pianos sound more like xylophones. So if in theory there ought not to be a discernible difference, in practice there usually is. Maybe it's just harder and more expensive to make first rate digital recordings than an LP? Nostalgia would have nothing to do with it for me as I have always wanted desperately to embrace the CD wholeheartedly, and dispense with old scratchy records.
