  2. This is true for me too. But if you followed the airline scene in the 60s and 70s, TWA means a lot more than that. After Pan Am, it was #2 in world prestige in its heyday. It was a pioneering airline like Pan Am. So it all depends on when you were born perhaps.

  7.  @Dachdogoriginal  Lucky you. When I was 9 in 1973, I arrived in Athens on TWA one day before the same flight was targeted for hijack. Two people were shot to death. Kinda stays with you.

  9.  @TWATWA-qy4zn  I remember the name Robert Stethem to this day (pronounced Steedham). It was so disgusting, and I think it was Uli who finally put her foot down and stopped others from being beaten. I remember their receiving criticism for collecting Jewish passports, as if they had a choice. That was the most absurd part of the drama. The owner of Athens Olympia restaurant in Boston was on flight 847, whom my family knew. When we saw his name in the papers we were shocked.It seems that Athens-Rome was a jinxed route for the airline, their having 4 fatal events on the route for TWA between 1964 and 86, including another flight 800. Not into numerology but you can't help but notice. Another disgrace as I recall, though I could be wrong on this. They hunted down one of the hijackers and sentenced him to something like 20 years, but he was freed far earlier than that by the US government. Unless I'm mistaking that with another event, that's to me almost as bad being the killer. What a disgrace is mankind, it never stops.

  10.  @TWATWA-qy4zn  On a happier note, they got one small detail wrong. The original twin globe logo had a bigger space between the W and the A, which gave it a more symmetric look. Quibbling aside I can't wait to see the hotel!!
