  4.  @gracechapel2464  I'm not always good at deciphering things in print. Still not sure what the "factual claim" is you were making. Personally, I am not sure exactly what gender dysphoria even means, even having discussed it ad nauseam with various friends, and even my psychiatrist. For example, I am a gay male, rather passive by "masculine" standards, have no interest in professional sports, very unaggressive, at least physically, I was the sissy boy who cried during snowball fights. But I never came to feel confusion, or a sense of a mismatch with my biological sex. So, how exactly does this work? I'm still not sure. Any insights would be helpful. I assume I have some sort o blind spot in understanding this.

  6. I don't really know for sure, as I am not familiar with every last JKR quote on trans issues. But it seems to me she is right about many claims. For example, isn't she being sensible in saying violent trans women should be sent to male and not female prisons?

  10. I agree with most of Rowling protestations. But, I do believe the question of what constitutes a man or a woman does not have an absolutely objective fool proof answer. If, or example, it conceivably could be proved that a sense of mismatch of biology with perceived gender is not only profound in some cases, but also due to not having the typical "male" or "female" temperament or tendencies of your biological sex, but those of the opposite gender, who is to say that's not also a valid way of defining gender? I personally would go with that, but would probably prefer we keep the sex part strictly biological.

  12. Not so sure of that. There are many sensible people who have some justification for saying transism is a real phenomenon, and that at the very least, it qualifies as a legitimate challenge to traditional definitions.

  13. Most of the evidence does not support most people, excepting bisexuals of course, from changing their sexuality, if by that you men sexual orientation. For many people the evidence suggests it's fixed.
