+faiz basha A jumbo jet is generally used to describe any wide body jet, the first of which was the 747. So yes, the 777 is absolutely a jumbo jet. cheers

+Guang Yi Cheong I'll modify what I wrote above. The original "jumbo jet" was a nickname for the 747 only. But over time the term came to be used more casually for any wide body twin-aisle aircraft, or even just a "large airliner." as reflected in these definitions: The Free Dictionary: "1. (Aeronautics) a type of large jet-propelled airliner that carries several hundred passengers" The Free Dictionary: "a widebody jet airliner." Cambridge dictionary: "a very large aircraft that can carry a lot of people." Dictionary.com "a widebody jet airliner." So the best answer I should have given is: the term has evolved over time, and it's therefore no longer "wrong" to apply this to some aircraft smaller than the 747. In your mind, I'm guessing the A380 would qualify as a "jumbo jet" but not a 767. If so, what are you basing your definition on? cheers
