Life is not life, as evidenced by the fact that we value human life not because it's life per se, but because of the qualities that make it special. This gives rise to the abortion debate. Saying a life is a life, case closed, is to me the lazy way out of uncomfortable dilemmas. It's more comforting to believe in absolute answers than to admit there may be many layers of complexity, or tyhat not every question has an easy answer. This is not to say this proves abortion is OK. Just that the claim "life is life" is up for grabs by rational people.
