  2. Hendrik, I agree that the Bible could well be a mix of God's word and ancient man's less developed morality. I would say that a truly omniscient and compassionate and beneficent God could not possibly have devoted so much time to advocating violence. An example -Do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey or -a cursing chid should be put to death (paraphrasing) or this one "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt-offering" Do you agree a truly moral and compassionate being would be incapable of these ghastly sentiments?
