  1. Males form coalitions after being kicked out of their pride around sexual maturity. It's usually brothers/cousins from the same pride... But single males without brothers/cousins will partner up with other unknown males. Lions are social cats... A single male will have a hard time taking over a territory of his own, but having a partner greatly increases those odds. Coalitions usually range from 2 males, to around 6... But there has been cases of 7 or more in one coalition, but they usually split up.
