You got some of those facts wrong... HK existed even in the Ming dynasty. As well as the Tang dynasty as well. Some of those who are called "fishing people" "hok lo"... Maybe they avoided the wars and infighting on the mainland.. when it did happen... and they fled to the coast to fish for a living. But then again... it can be said that, the original settlers of the "Hua Xia" people, were yellow river people as well. They fished for a living and that is how they survived. Some of the Qing dynasty people were basically siberians and Russians... with some heritages linked to Korean blood lines... This is why there had always been a North and South Divide. There was once upon a time.. a literal line drawn... between North AND South....
What the British did, was that, they tried to reconcile.. the so called "infighting" with many European countries... to "unite" "China"... but in truth... in history.. there never was a single China. Never was. Never did. Just cooperation. Does not mean that you can and should leave your own region or hometown.. or whatever. Because of trade, this is why many English speaking chinese often reside in the East Coastal areas.. all the way down towards HK. HK was not even supposed to be opened up for trade. Cos Britain wanted Shanghai. It never wanted HK. But the people who gave it away... i.e. Qing Emperor... basically forced the British onto the Canton's Pronvicial govenors. Cos it is their enemies' location.... Ironically... the Qing dynasties.. did not know that, the Canton provincial people would work with these Europeans... and literally opened up trades.. and the rest is history.
Cos then.. when prosperity came... some of the Fuijian region people seeing that their trades are slowing down, cos the trades have gone down Southward... this is when, they too went Southward and to enter HK as well. And this is whereby numerous fights and infighting took place...
I never knew that... some of the scholars are saying that... by right..."HK never had a single legal and political structures". They said that.. there had always been two legal systems in place. HOW is that possible ?????.... Cos if this was the case, then many European banks and companies could not have been dealt with then. And nor, should the World Bank have entered HK to begin with. And the entire existence of USA should not exist then. And if this is right.. then surely.. China needs to cough back up their various loans and materials from abroad then. And skills... and patents.... etc etc etc. IF the NSL is strictly to be implemented... Then ALL of PRC's development over the last 30 years, need to roll back.... Back to the original point.
