Partly due to "opening up". Partly due to "competing with one another"... And partly confusion. I rather than they went back to basics like, to use salt to preserve and debacterial meat instead. Nobody would blame you if you made salty jerky. A lot of people salted fish, or meat.

โย @leobuana7430ย : It's because they took out big loans when they shouldn't have done so. With these ingredients, they shouldn't have turned it into something else. They should've turned into a dried raw ingredient that could be made into something else. And keep debacterialised it etc. Cos then, if this is looked after well. It is useful for sauce makers. Or home chefs. I do buy dried shrimps. Or dried seaweeds. I know what to do with it. I wouldn't know what to do with mish mash semi manufactured itself that is dehydrated.... Lol... ๐คฃ๐คญ.... Hee hee hee.... So how come they didn't just make it into vitamin pills and be done with it ? ๐

That is because your assumption is that, those imported items have no fees. But they do have import duties. So therefore, the drinks costs.. or the higher prices equalise the import fees as well.... There is a reason why we have a commodities market on food items and prices of meat. Precisely this reason. But I think their hoarding of meat, is wrong imho... I would respect them a lot more, if they used a wok and fried it and added salt and seasoning to create a "yuk sun"... A lot of people from the past generation would've dried it instead... And use it for soups and not a meal. Just for the tastes. What they should've done is dried those shrimps instead. Nothing wrong with drying them. Using some salt to debacterialise or some basic vinegar is fine. Wash it. Debacterialise it. Then dry it properly. That is the traditional Chinese way... In historical times.

That is thanks to the Filipinos that fight the market. The US are big on this. In the UK, we don't do this. But as you have found out... The UK control their shipping, those days are now gone.... Of big buffets.... No wonder.. it's just so weird....

I used to look down at chefs in china. But I think that chefs are actually a proper profession inside china ! They can't do this !!!! ๐ฎ No wonder so many SE Asians I see online all prefer Michelin starred chefs. Lol..... ๐ ....
