This is what happens when you use the gig economy model. Or contractors. So now, nobody full time would have been able to deal with this. And being so far away as well. How do you deal with it in real time ??? Back to paper version of processes then isn't it ???

It depends on the airlines.. I think most long haul UK airlines would cover or have insurances to cover etc. So you can ask for compensation. It is the chartered ones, the ones which he talks of about single private air plane kind of scenario. But this does add pressures to all these airline staff and ground staff as well. Plus during lockdown, lots of airlines are restructuring and asking for peanuts as pay as well. THIS makes it even WORST. Lots of people quit... Pensions are gone. So.. it is even harder to find good and experienced staff. When something is this critical.. and people had such experiences, and yet, they probably wouldn't be able to live and to work in or near the airports. So finding staff to live near one is even harder ! Lots of airline struggles to recruit as well...

We're kinda becoming an actual commuter's country... which is very surprising.

@matthewbaynham6286 : UK ticket holders would be fine too. Long haul airlines have company insurances, so their company would have been able to give or provide some kind of compensations. So.... It is whether the ATOL packages, or the chartered airlines that is or is not covered. Or the private airlines etc. Those are probably the ones that you needed proper travel insurance to cover as well. Cos your long haul ticket, should have the insurance aspect added to the ticket itself is my understanding... Something to that effect. Or at least if you flew with a British airline, it was the case before.

I thought that BA used to own Heathrow Airport.. or am I wrong in that info ?... I also had seen a very stripped back HK airport as well when I departed. It was like a ghost airport. It's so weird.

Well.. when the whole covid thing kicked in, and a lot of people were both sacked, and quit as well... lol... When they shouldn't have to. And now reclaiming back their positions, and retraining.. and annoyed... lol... And then some new recruits. And the addage of... not just the main airlines from UK outwards, there is also the European ones now as well. Adding to the pressures. And cheeky Europe also wanted extra lines and things during covid ! Very cheeky imho !!! And on top of brexit too. This is just creating more annoyances all around.
