@theghostofspookwagen4715 : The same can be said of Vietnamese or Asian food in the UK too. It is seen as an "upmarket" thing to do. Just that people do a lot of it. The very frugal people, just eat a sandwich for a simple meal. Not even vegetables, or meat. Some just eat a cheese sandwich. Many people will cook a single chicken, and then split it across several meals thorough the week. This is how frugal people really are. Now I do agree that, in the West, we have gone too extreme. i.e. Too frozen. Too manufactured. Too excessive production... A lot of people now ask for fresh food and fruits delivery these days.

McDonald should really create a sub-brand and enter that "restaurant" market, and create something a bit more either European, or American formal restaurant. As in, a lot more upmarket. Kind of similar to Cheesecake factories. If you do that, then maybe the Vietnamese people will think "hm... this is worth my money"... to have something which they cannot get so easily within Vietnam. So weird that these people don't know how to market...

Forget it. I take that back. Lol. Vietnam is already a developed place, so there is no going back any more... lol... Even their "average" is almost like Michelin star level. There is nothing left really.... Nothing to see... move along. Move along. lol.

McDonalds used to be the "foreign" food, once upon a time. But yes... it can be a lot better, I admit. I think there is a lot that can change, and to be changed... I do like HK's McDonald's "ice tea". That was a time whereby, ice tea was not available in the form of Vitasoy... So... people should be grateful now. Cos it was the Western companies that tapped into the supply-chains and bring those items to you ! Talk about ungratefulness.... One day, when that supply chain ends. Then do not cry. With McD, it was also the availability of the breakfast items that can be served all day as well ? I love that. Cos in the UK you cannot get that except breakfast time. And then their toys as well... It did used to be a lot better. And HK tried a lot of trends as well... and they started and dropped and started and dropped.. til now.. nobody cares any more. LOL... Even I am not too funny about things. Cos not many places are that nice any more. People just want the money, but they don't want the efforts. The end of that.

That is because the French was once upon a time, a coloniser of the country. So therefore, what is left over is some of the upmarket French cuisine. Similar to HK. You will still find some British food left in HK. (But of course, it is also now, inundated with very bad and sad... SE Asian cafes and food. even the locals have LEFT already ! THAT is what HK has turned into. A bit of a hell hole...even the Portugese curries are already bastardised too. And Thai food isn't Thai food really. Normally, you kind of expect to find external food to that location to be a high end one, but sadly, the local foods are local SE Asian food. The high end, are more European food. Import/export etc. ) The remaining market is possibly a very niche area to try.. like American smoked food. Or Scandinavian pickled food, and maybe things like strawberries from England. Or clotted cream etc. The fact that these places can get such international food just says how saturated the market is already is. Only in the UK do McD makes it really, cos it is still typical European food. When it comes to bread.. SE Asia went down the dessert route... and left over with the soda bread and the grainary bread in the UK. Doubt that it will take off in Asia.
