No. It’s demonstrative of the incapability of the people to run a modern State. SAME picture in the former Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe)—and almost every African country….Most Africans aren’t “decades” behind their Western counterparts—but centuries….And I’m not talking about education as much as philosophy, core beliefs, societal norms….Africa missed the “renaissance,” the enlightenment, the progress of science and education…All form very recent additions to a way of life more grounded in nature & survival…The greatest obstacle to progress, by far, is the tribal system — based on birth and “who” you know—and a deeply-ingrained, “live for today” philosophy that Westerners will never understand, yet is the very foundation of their belief system…
Post-WWI, Western leaders recognized the limitations of certain populations which prevented them from prospering in the modern world —and appointed panels for each African & Middle Eastern country, of the best Western economists, city planners, judiciary & educators to oversee these countries, and ensure that tribal loyalties & corruption didn’t take over….Corruption was greatly reduced, schools & medical centers introduced, and democratic governments begun to be set up….However, between the dominance of “sponsor” country (White) members in local industries, paired with calls from Progressive Westerners demanding “self-rule” for what they termed, “subjugated peoples,” a fervor was created ….Soon, the populations of “sponsored States”were agitating for the nirvana of “self-rule” ( when in reality, what they desperately wanted, like most ppl, was simply to live in well-run, low-crime societies that had high employment)….What they got, was the opposite. ( And, WHERE did the voices of the Western “self-rule” advocates go? ….Was there even one among them who could name a single area in which the ppls lives “improved?”)….…There really ARE far worse things than having an “appointed” government.
