Literally, a 360 degree difference in US command structure & the PLA….US ARMY, for instance, encourages individual Officer initiative (and it’s a rare Commander who doesn’t defer to a subordinate officer’s opinion—when that subordinate is on the ground, and sees problems for his troops in following his original orders)….

Problem is, you can’t fight—let alone, win—a war, when leaders on the ground are required to “call in” for “permission” from a senior, prior to making critical decisions in fast-moving situations ……

….Just wish the general Chinese character wasn’t so obedient/fearful—and just a bit more defiant….It often strains credulity that human beings would tolerate so much abuse (starvation, dictates on family size, criminal-like surveillance, lack of basic freedoms) without “rising up”…. ….I’m a historian, and can rattle off the top of my head DOZENS of rebellions by an unarmed populace against their rulers & the ruler’s entire army…Uprisings in which most know they will likely die—but do it for future generations ….The Chinese show no inclination to do so—seeming to prefer to “run away,” rather than fight for change from within….

Think you’re forgetting the Australians—who have fought in every action the US has been in ; the UK (with a record only slightly behind Australia); and, of course, the Ukrainian Military ….As for “Afghanistan,” theirs can hardly be considered a “military,” given their “clan over country” loyalties, and their very odd notions over what constitutes a military “target”…. No military force in their right minds would work with the Afghans…
