“Legacy Admissions” now make up LESS than 2% of admissions for all of the Ivies ( that’s, on average, “18” students—out of a freshman class of 2,000 )…Additionally, so-called “Legacy” students must have SAT scores no less than “10 points” below the “average ACCEPTED student” at the school…. (These are scores, btw, that are much higher than the scores that were required for students who were admitted under the same schools’ former “diversity” admissions programs)….
There are, in fact, more benefactors’ kids who are turned down—than who are accepted by their parent’s Ivy. …Ppl who want to believe otherwise will never understand : But, it helps neither the donor, the student (his kid), nor the school’s reputation, if the student is expelled or drops out for being unable to do the work or compete with his peers ( or who never ends up graduating at all )….Every potential donor is told upfront that their kid’s acceptance is not a given, & depends upon their scores….(I worked in Admissions)
