  1. Columbia, no….But, Univ of PA, Univ of MI & Stanford — Def YES ( as those 3 have the best medical research & med schools — resulting in approx 80% of recent medical advances )…. Instead of throwing wads of cash at all “top 50” schools, concentrating taxpayer $$ on the handful of schools whose research benefits ALL Americans is the way to go

  2. @ ….Good points!….Agree that it probably shouldn’t be concentrated on only 3 schools— But, when you do the research, the output of Penn, Michigan & Stanford ( related to cancer breakthroughs , genetic medicine & new drug treatments ) is just so far ahead of others ( many, with larger endowments ), it becomes a question of giving limited funds to proven producers & leaders in the field, vs. wokie ideas of “participation funds” for all comers….
