It just a damned pity the Ukrainians hadn’t had a different leader—who would have signed the peace agreement last March (to which the Russians had agreed to Ukraine keeping 90% of its territory, and even having EU membership)….NOW, they’ll be lucky to keep 70% of their land—and EU membership is off the table

He refused to seek “revenge” from a decimated South—despite almost universal calls from Northerners to “Make them pay” Unfortunately, when Lincoln’s VP took over, retribution policies went into overdrive. Rather than a gradual, natural healing & eventual coming-together between races, the Federal Government removed Southerners’ voting rights, and “appointed” recently-freed slaves to represent Southern States in the House & Senate ( even though they KNEW this would inflame racial tensions to breaking point )…. Forcing all-Black Senators on the South, while removing Whites’ voting rights, was a practical guarantee of retribution ….(hence, the KKK )
