One grievously underestimated contributing factor to the “racial wealth gap” is a generalized ignorance regarding basic money management—including basic investing and the importance of savings to future wealth outcomes….
A 2010 study (which is ongoing) comparing the “wealth accumulation” of different groups over time, found that among African Americans, Latinos, and recent Asian immigrants, within ten years, the Asian immigrants had accumulated 15X the wealth of African Americans, and 9X the wealth of Latinos. Particularly striking was the rate of savings between the three groups, with Asians saving, on average, 20% of earned income, Latinos, 12%….and African Americans, less than 2%….
What is important about the above study is that its results mimic other, similar ones….Whatever is decided upon in regards to reparations, serious thought must be put into adding money management courses as a mandatory requirement to a public school education….

@@tesuparman Not what I said. The IDF says that HAMAS has “tens of thousands of members” in Gaza. Hamas says they have “hundreds of thousands” in Gaza. Treating Hamas’ claim as numbers inflation, I’m going with the IDF numbers: “tens of thousands “ (let’s say, “40,000”)
The average Gazan family has 6.9 - 7.3 members (again, depending on sources—I’ll go with “7” )….Seven X 40,000 = 280,000 (and that’s not including these members’ friends, grandparents, etc — most of whom, presumably, would be aware of their terrorists membership )….The point is: That’s a fairly hefty % of Gazan residents ( and your saying, “That doesn’t make them complicit” is kinda ….lame. How MANY “friends” do you have who are terrorists that butcher little kids)?
And I know Gaza quite well. I worked there for 4 months with Médecin Sans Frontières in 2020

@badomen9057 ….From your prior comments, it hardly surprises that you would frame ignoble intentions ( throwing tomatoes from the sidelines ) as principled action….But, it won’t do.
While brushing up on Ethics, you might wish to fill the obviously empty void you have in Twentieth-Century history….The past eighty years have represented the greatest span of time—in all of world history—in which no wars among the earth’s major powers were fought….This wasn’t serendipity. It is the RESULT of the rules-based order that the U.S. designed, implemented—and enforced (and continues to enforce)….If you think that we “tilt the game” so that most of the balls go into our own holes, you’re correct : It’s the one benefit of being the game architect (on the deficit side, we also shoulder the greatest burden—both financially & with human capital)….
We do not always get it right—but most ppl with a decent grounding in world history agree that a better system for maintaining (even a sometimes tense) equilibrium among powers has yet to be found….And always, the Authoritarians are on our heels, and closing the distance ( today, they are Russia, China & Iran)….Democracies are an ever-shrinking minority….It is easy to dismiss what you have & do not understand if you haven’t lived in an alternate system, or haven’t a deep understanding of world history 1850-1950….I would recommend filling in those gaps (if you wish to be an effective “opposition”), otherwise, you’re merely an angry voice in the Peanut Gallery….
Such fascination with “account dates.” ( Not everyone has employment that allows them the luxury of YouTube accounts )

@finaLee69 ….If “China is the future,” guess we all should prepare for massive unemployment, financial instability, population collapse, polluted air, earth and water, massive State corruption, concentration camps, Tofu Dreg infrastructure, divisive Wolf Warrior “diplomacy,” the bullying of neighbour States, loss of personal freedoms, loss of freedom of travel, poisoned food, being “welded” into our homes, forced into quarantine centers, lied to about diseases & death tolls, etc, etc, etc…..
What a horrific future.

@@badofi ….Really? You don’t see it in Singapore?….I have (very) long ties to Singapore (with many family members still living there). They tell me frequently about the growing pro-Beijing sentiment they are seeing there….The vast majority of Singaporeans are, of course, ethnic Chinese (and even though they are third, fourth & fifth-generation, there is something about Chinese culture that seems to exert a different effect on those raised with it from those born into other cultures —and this effect seems to transcend nationality)….
When, say, a Japanese or a German family emigrate to Australia, for example, they tend to become 100% “Australian” by the second generation, their values & beliefs indistinguishable from those of 20th-generation Australians….We have seen a different picture with ethnic Chinese—in EVERY country they emigrate to (not just “Western” ones)….Perhaps it’s due to the indoctrination they are brought up with (irregardless of birthplace), but they show statistically verifiable “divided loyalties.”
I’ll be returning to Singapore in March for a month’s visit, and will see/hear for myself whether this phenomenon IS increasing….

@movingshapes I would happily compare IQ scores with you, universities attended, etc , but judging from your spelling, your “logic” and your lack of manners…it would be a waste, so listen up : “WHAT” Government are you referring to? “Slavery” was NEVER legalized at the Federal level; it was, at best, tolerated—as long as it remained “in the Southern States.” Are you talking about suing the ex-Confederacy, a particular State, or what?
(And, while we’re at it, enact “reparations” for AAs, I can guarantee there will be thousands of lawsuits demanding “reparations” for Union soldiers—who were killed fighting against the institution that caused the South to succeed)….Try using your words like a rational MAN—and not an emotional teenager…
