  1. 6:12 This is perhaps one of the most frustrating things about US infrastructure. A sidewalk can just.... end. Just like that. No warning, no way out, you are just dumped into the gutter on the street and expected to deal with it.

  2. Wow! Those projected cycle path images are never something I'd have thought of in a million years, but how clever. So much more noticeable than a retroreflective sign, or even a sign with flashing lights.

  3. That whole "transit is solely designed to go into the city and back, only" was one of my biggest issues with transit in my home state of Connecticut. I lived in a suburb in a little town called Enfield, and worked in another little town called Windsor. These two towns were both north of the central city, Hartford, and in order to get from Enfield to Windsor, I had to bus to Hartford, literally passing through Windsor and right past my workplace, then wait and take another bus back from Hartford to Windsor. The bus didn't stop at all once it got out of Enfield until it got to Hartford. All the busses were either "you're coming from this town to Hartford" or "you're going from Hartford to that town." And like these trains, they only ran in the morning and evening, for the 9 to 5 workers. Everyone else had to build their travel around that schedule.

  5. US street designers: "People are driving fast on this road and it's unsafe! We need to make the road bigger so it's safer for them to do that!" Netherlands street designers: "People are driving fast on this road and it's unsafe! We need to narrow the road and redesign it to encourage drivers to want to slow down."
