Christian Gingras, I wouldn't say the Inuit example is a counter example. In fact, I'd say it supports it. After all, if we take the theory of a baby's babbles being the basis for the terms used for parental figures, "ana ana" and "ata ata" are just a baby babbling repetitively "Ananananana." The Inuit chose to break it down with the vowel as the beginning sound, "ana ana". Other languages chose to begin it with the consonant, "na na" or "ma ma". He did state there is some variation between an N sound and an M sound in some cultures, though the M is more widely used, as the N and M sounds are commonly heard when a baby is breastfeeding.
