  1.  @frerderickbays2762  The Soviets did not get replacements everyday. Many days they received no reinforcement at all and were severely short of ammunition since supplies were not available at times from the East bank. Also Paulus pulled additional men from the line of the Don for reinforcement to be replaced by Romanian troops. You will see this as the series progresses so you are mistaken.

  2. He was busy in North Africa. Why send him to the Eastern front when he was keeping British troops engaged. He would be less effective in the East as by Dec 1941 the war of movement had ended and it was mostly frontal attacks. Finally one more general would not mean much. Guderian was a very aggressive general and he had to pull back in December 1941 so Rommel would have been in a similar situation.

  4. I think there are many ways the Soviets could know about the Romanians replacing German units on the Don. Signal intercepts, recon, captured prisoners both German and Romanian as well as spies. When you move a whole army into position for a couple of months it is hard to keep it secret.
