  2. The professiosl soldiers were aware of the problem of supplies before the invasion of the USSR started. However Hitler insisted on the invassion. Also both Hitler and he General Staff thought the campaign would take 4 to 8 weeks ending at most at the end of August well before winter and the collapse of the supply situation. They counted on a rapid campaign and the collapse of the Soviets. Obviously this did not happen.
