Comments by "Cary Black" (@caryblack5985) on "Hitler & his Generals - von Wietersheim and von Bock" video.
Stalin did execute generals in 1941 but very few or none from 1942 and on. Hitler was not lenient to any generals involved in the July 20th plot.

The Germans were warned repeatedly by the Romanians. Anti tank weapons were promised but never delivered.

The Germans found that their horses had a tough time in winter. They were not used to the extreme cold of the Russian winter. They also needed fodder and could not survive on the grasses alone in the USSR as opposed to Russian ponies. And on the steppe there was very little grass.

Zeitzler was never dismissed se this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurt_Zeitzler

See Military History Visualized. He did a couple videos on booty weapons.
2
The Stalingrad videos come out about every 4 weeks. He certainly is not done.

It was von Manstein

From 1943 on it was thw Soviets who did the attacking not the Wehrmacht

Some were recalled most were just retired.

Exactly unless they are called back Rundstedt several times and Blaskowitz. Some might be given non front commands like Guderian as inspector of panzers etc.

Some have said it was to gain the strategic initiative although I think this is a pipedream. More realistically it was hoped to destroy enough Soviet manpower and armor to at least delay and disorganize the coming Soviet summer offensive.

If you want an excellent in depth look at the military and particularly politics of the Third Reich from July 1944 onward read Ian Kershaw The End.

It would only be speculation. The Germans were brutal to the Poles, Greeks, Yugoslavs and Soviets.

Paulus did not neither did Rommel or Kluge and all three were field marshals. Oh I forgot Model.

Their war production was very faulty and they did not gear up for total war till late 1943 and later. Speer reduced many inefficiencies in the war economy.
1
He did not sabotage Paulus in Stalingrad and the 6th Army. What he did before the fight in Stalingrad was ok with Hitler. He was soon dismissed when the fighting had just begun in Stalingrad

Wulf That does not happen to be true. Supplies were sent the problem was transport was insufficient. As far as troops were concerned it was Hitler that sent Manstein and the 11th Army up to Leningrad. When he told Paulus I have no fresh troops to give you Hitler was there in the same meeting and certainly could have overruled him. Finally there was very heavy fighting at Rzhev and army group center urgently needed reinforcements to prevent a collapse.
1
@sniperboom1202 Perhaps but perhaps not but it is a major reason for a shortage of troops when Paulus asked for fresh divisions.

Read The End by Ian Kershaw

@lawrencesmeaton6930 Well it is a what if question and matter of speculation. I think that it is agreed the Germans did themselves no favor by failing to provide the Romanians with anti-tank weapons and listening to their warnings.
1
Perhaps but Japan signed a nonaggression treaty with USSR in April 1941.

Only when you verify what he says in his memoirs with other available facts.
