Because he has the most depth on Stalingard. Prior to his books almost all books on the Eastern Front depended on German memoirs and documentts. Not necessarily the fault of histtorians but much of the Soviet side was missing. Glantz was a specialist in Slavic military history went into the archives and was able to give us the much mor complete history of the battle from both sides.

@darklysm8345 Different people have different opinbions. But whatever his biases are it is better to get both sides than only one which was the case for 40 years.

@insideoutsideupsidedown2218 No they thought the campaign with the the USSR would take 6 to 8 weeks, well beore the onst of winter and they would have captured Moscow and any Soviet resistence would be east of the Urals.

@insideoutsideupsidedown2218 Well he did not think it would take one day. It would take time and the Soviets had hundreds of thousand or millions of men. The 6 to 8 weeks was a rediculously short time but his is what Halder and Hitler thought and completely unrealistic unless the Soviets just stopped fighting.
