@timobrienwells TIK doesn't just use Glantz but also uses Isaev and Hayward and also Jason Marks. If you are watching this series you should know that.

@timobrienwells And if Glantz Hayward and Isaev are in your opinion not any good what historians do you use for the battle of Stalingrad?

@williamst.romain7393 Most likely becuase of his relationship with Hitler. Hitler still overlooked the in competence of Goering and when Goering said that he would turn the men into field divisions rather than turning them entirely to the army. Hitler excused Goering many times because of his loyalty during the rise to power of the Nazis.

Yes they did. Supplies and reinforcements crossed the Volga by a fleet of small ships. The main artillery of the Soviet armies was stationed on the East bank of the Volga.

@Suchtel10 They had supplies and men unloaded at train stations north of the Don river and trucked supplies and marched the men to the points east of Stalingrad and then had them cross the river. Of course they tried to stop reinforcements and supplies from the East bank. The crossings were always under artillery fire and small arms fire.

That was true but I think mostly in the fighting in the city not much before then.

Yes the Wehrmacht did not have soldiers to spare. Of course they used Rumanian, Hungarian, and Italian troops to protect their flanks. There were no troops available to reinforce to make up for the loses in battle.

Demyansk was the first thing they thought of when the question was can the 6th army be supplied by air.

There were none at Stalingrad.
