Well all the information is from books of Glantz, Isaev and Mark. However Tik has managed to create a narrative from them and using maps has made it possible to follow even the more complex aspects of the 4 month battle.

I don't think they considered crossing the Volga. It would be a difficult and dangerous operation. There was also the danger of their troops being cut off from the supply routes.

Hitler and Halder were convinced that the Wehrmacht would take the city very soon so there was no need to change goals..

@johnnydavis5896 Without giving spoilers there will be conference on Sept 12 where some of the possibilities for the Wehrmacht will be discussed. I want to wait and see if TIK covers this in his next episode. This will lead to an interesting discussion.

They had no units in the east that were not busy. The Soviets are attacking Army Group Center and Army Group North. Paulus is using his troops along the Don. As the Romanians and Italians and Hungarians take over these duties he starts feeding them into the city. If there are any reserves they are in France and it takes weeks to properly train, equip and transport them thousands of miles.

Easy to explain. The high command (Halder) and the supreme command (Hitler) said you must take Stalingrad. All you have to have is the WILL and National Socialist drive and nothing can stop you.
2
@tlanimass952 Correct. You will see a big change near the end of the battle as the Soviet air force grows.

Well they never captured Grozny. Don't know why you say too close. They wanted to capture Grozny.

Nope he fought the entire war and was promoted. Stalin executed Generals during 1941 for failure. He did that much less if at all from 1942 on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIBwF7e3yR0&t=16s

@samstewart4807 Thanks for the information.

@samstewart4807 I found some additional info on this. It appears most of them were executed because of the Soviet failures in 1941https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1941_Red_Army_Purge#:~:text=About%20300%20commanders%2C%20including%20Lieutenant,Soviet%20Union%2C%20on%20October%2017.

It may not have been needed but the high command Halder and Hitler said you must take it.

This has some truth. However you have to take into account the German air superiority. The Stukas,( flying artillery) were almost unopposed. Later when the troops of both sides are very close together the use of artillery is going to be limited for fear of friendly fire.
1
It seems like a much more perilous situation. I would think a general would avoid this problem no matter if the troops fought better or not.
1
Would have been better (possibly) but Hitler and Halder said you must take Stalingrad.
