@CS-zn6pp The German swere deep into mass murder by 1941. The Wehrmacht had agreed to offer material support to the murder squads before a single German soldier set foot in the USSR. That war crimes were comitted by Soviets was true but it in no way diminishes what the Germans did in the USSR. I would point out the atrocities of the Wehrmacht https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEraxud7vZ4&t=8s

Yes usual excuse the allies were just as bad. The Wehrmacht planned and agreed to support murder squads sent to the USSR in March 1941 before nay Germans soldier set foot in the USSR.
10
They translated the Soviet pamphlet on fighting stugs so the Germans would know what tactics were used by the Soviets.

@Paciat The Wehrmacht agreed to support murder squads sent to the USSR in March 1941 before a single soldier entered the USSR. The was planned not in the heat of he moment. It was a war of annihilation.

The Nazis planned a war of annihilation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n43gGaQVwg&t=1s

@TheDoctor1225 These were planned ahead of time. A war of annihilation against the USSR
6
Some planned murder before they went to wat. The Wehrmacht agreed to support murder squads in in the USSR in March1941 before a single German soldier entered the soil of the USSR.

@cocksucker7442 Yes mr Sucker you get your info from movies and tv. Read some books by historians and you might learn something.
5
That explains some activities. However the Wehrmacht supported the murder squads in the USSR. That was agreed in 1941. There was confiscation of food not only as a military "necessity" but also to send to the Reich. Top generals issued orders encouraging war crimes and made punishment for them optional.

But there are armies that started out dirty got dirtier and remained the dirtiest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEraxud7vZ4&t=42s
4
Your facts are wrong Dresden civilians killed around 25,00 even Goebbels who faked statistics said 250,00 not half a million. Watch this and see if there were Nazis war crimes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6J-xlJgCr2U&t=27s

@l.h.9747 I can suggest 2 books to you: Alexander Watson Ring of Steel Germany and Austria-Hungary in WW1 and Alexander Watson The Fortress The Siege of Przemysl He does go into the organization of the A-H Army and relations of the various ethnic groups types of units etc. I think you will find much of the information you seek.

@theodorechill He is a holocaust denier.

Some armies started off dirty got doirtier and remained the dirtiest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEraxud7vZ4&t=42s

You are mistaken https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEraxud7vZ4&t=42s
2
@jurisprudens That is not the only atrocities the Wehrmacht committed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEraxud7vZ4&t=42s
2
@jurisprudens I am not blaming the Wehrmacht for things it did not do but things it did do. In March 1941 the Wehrmacht agreed to support murder squads that were sent to the USSR even before one soldier set foot in the USSR. In addition the Wehrmacht stole food from civilians in the USSR and Greece to feed their troops and send food to the Reich causing famine and death. For a book you can read Ostfront by Fritz who details many of the crimes I mention. If you are interested in further reading I can suggest other titles by respected historians.
2
@jurisprudens How about reading the book I suggested. I had not brought up the confiscation of food before this and the starving of civilians. I did not bring up the agreement to support murder squads in the USSR in March 1941 before the invasion of the USSR. How about reading Ben Shepherd Hitler's Soldiers, Nicholas Stargardt The German War, Richard Evans The third Reich at War. I could talk about the Security divisions that slaughtered whole villages in Russia. A burning down their homes and leaving them homeless in the middle of winter. It seems to me you are covering your ears and don't want to look at the Wehrmacht crimes. I have listed plenty. You don't like the youtube videos and you could read any of the books if you had an open mind. All you can do is deny and deflect. Sorry there is plenty of evidence.
2
I understand what you are saying yet there are some things that need to looked at. The Wehrmacht agreed tor support the murder squads sent into the USSR in March 1941 before any German soldier invaded. The majority of the soldiers were Christians and had a religious training to some extent. The Generals and Field Marshalls sent orders to the troops encouraging war crimes see the von Reichenau order of Oct 1941 and it was passed to the troops by Manstein, von Rundstedt and others who were surely raised in the Christian Prussian tradition. What happened to these men who were the commanders of the Wehrmacht?

@colonelsmith7757 Here are some facts for you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n43gGaQVwg&t=1s
2
They did not punish half the population. But they did not even get the 10% who were most implicated in crimes.

Very well said. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and will give an overview of the topic. Then you can go forward by reading other sources to verify what you have read or use the cited sources to look into the topic further. Regading Ultra I agree 100% . Knowing what the enemy will do is always helpful. Howerver if he is going to make a armoured attack and you have no tanks to oppose it may not be very helpful to you. The Battle of the Bulge may have caused the Allies to believe there would be no attack since there was no indication from Ultra since the Germans used word of mouth to inform troops of their plans. Memoirs are good if you can verify the information. The idea that "well he was there" does not prevent the author from giving a completely biased view of what went on. Finally the new historians from Russia and David Glantz have really changed our view of the Eastern Front. Much archival material is now available , not just censored narratives. In fact now I am irritated with new histories of the Eastern Front when the author makes use of many German sources but hardly uses Russian sources, and barely describes the actions of the Soviet troops except in the most general way.
1
As he said it is very complex and can be very confusing with many sources offering different names and reasons for a well known name. This is what historians do. trying to untangle an try to find out sources. It shows because you read it in a book does not mean it is accurate. You usually need more than one source and even then mistakes are carried from one book to another.

Here is some info.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEraxud7vZ4&t=42s

This sounds like a very interesting documentary. You talked about your collaboration with the producer and German resources. Can you talk a little about new information on the Soviet assault? What Russian archives and new documentation from the Soviet side will you use? Will you have any fresh Soviet combat footage? Will you interview Soviet participants? Thanks

@simplicius11 Who is Zemskov. What book are you quoting?
1
@simplicius11 Thanks for the information it is appreciated. Is there any place you know that reprinted the article and is there a translation in English available?
1
@simplicius11 Yes I used autotranslate and printed the entire article to read at my leisure. Thanks for your help.
1
Iagree with some of your points but when you plan to systematically kill civilians and plan to depopulate the USSR so germans can take over it is not the eye of the beholder see thishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6J-xlJgCr2U&t=27s
1
@jurisprudens What have you brought to the discussion? Sorry the in formation is in the books I cited. Read them and we will discuss Wehrmacht crimes.
1
I have heard that the Germans used captured weapons when available but when the artillary piece ran out of captured shells or the tank needed repair they just abandoned them .
1
@annadalassena5460 Thanks for the info. Maybe they meant in combat situations and they could not get further shells for the guns or spare parts for theforeign tanks they would abandon them or possibly they were more likely to abandon trucks rather than fighting vehicles.
1
Here is a war crime that the Nazis did https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10LfSxvARXQ
1
gruntview there were other crimes but it doien't excuse what the Nazis did
1
I am sure that Germany would be aware of the fighting. The Japanese ambassador would have reported it in Germany.
1
So people in the USSR are not people according to the Germans? Than why complain about allied crimes. We can just call the German people not people.
1
I would be interested in how many soldiers in the German army were assigned to the care and contorl of horses in a division and what percentage of soldiers in the artillery would be assigned to the care and contol of horses.
1
@CS-zn6pp I certainly am aware of Soviet atrocities here is an example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NigYL50QHeU
