As a trans and gay person, I find that deeply misinformed at best. On 12/12/21, Rowling called trans women "the penised individuals." I find it pretty disgusting to reduce our personhood to our genetalia. We're human beings, not walking genitals. There are many examples, not to mention her support for people who advocate for violence against trans people (like Kellie Jay Keen).

Gender identity is a complicated psychological construct related to both nature AND nuture. It should be OKAY to say that we don't understand everything about gender identity (we don't understand A LOT about the brain). Attempts to define the boundaries of identities we understand socially will ALWAYS lead to murkiness, edge cases, exceptions. It's a common philosophical problem.
