She deserved it. While she never said that phrase, it reflected her beliefs. She was cold, apathetic, and viciously opposed any changes to the governmental system alongside the petty nobles. She orchestrated the flight to Varennes, and sent French troop movements to France's enemies during the war of the First Coalition. She sabotaged any and all attempts at peaceful reform with vicious zeal, and she paid for it with her life.

She had quite a few affairs, though, with the captain of her guards being her favorite. When that burned out, he introduced her to someone else before quietly withdrawing from court (though they maintained contact for many years afterwards).

@youtubestopmakingmechangem8035 I'm aware of the smear campaign, but the letters weren't forgeries, and while they blew her sex life out of proportions to slander her, she DID do everything she could to hinder reform, and, as I said, collaborated with foreign armies. She even expressed almost mustache-twirling glee at her deception in one of them.

Maria Christina had the same birthday as her mother, was sharp and witty, and took advantage of the mental scarring her mother suffered from the death of her father to arrange her own marriage, which ultimately produced no children. Her siblings were jealous of the favoritism she got and her manipulative behavior and thus treated her coldly, a discourtesy she cheerfully returned. So acidic was her relationship with her siblings that when she learned of Marie Antoinette's execution, she just made a wry comment and sipped callously from a glass of wine. In short, she was a bitch.
