@jarozawiercie3357 I think you have a point. Though as I say the targeting of already victimised foreign workers does add a complication.

@TheImperatorKnight No small part of the Reich's workforce were civilians from occupied enemy territory conscripted by the German authorities. It was particularly problematic to attack them when bombers flattened industrial targets.

Yes. I do think it's important that the Americans didn't intentionally target civilians . However attacking a train station in the middle of a densely populated town pretty much guaranteed heavy casualties.

I remember an amazing story of a British bomber which became so lost it attacked Bristol believing it to be Hamburg.

@thearisen7301 You're correct. The law of double effect excuses civilian casualties if these were unintended and incidental to some operation deemed necessary.
