@igory3789 I think ML is mostly false, but partly true.

I wondered about that too Armies are generally careful to tell their soldiers as little as possible about operations. I was always amused that in the world wars The British Army never told their soldiers the names of hills. They were always referred to as "Hill, X" (the X representing the height of the hill in metres).

@igory3789 I agree.

@caryblack5985 There is the problem of "lightly wounded", who were often kept with their units in the expectation that they would be fit for service in a few days.

Steve in the Mountains Why wouldn't they? He would tell his comrades that if they cooperation with the enemy after capture they might well be released.

@caryblack5985 Particularly since he was so cooperative, as prisoners tend to be. Surprising that he knew so much considering his lowly rank.

@TheImperatorKnight Don't let these idiots get to you. I'm very impressed with your Stalingrad series.

Nightmarish. The Wehrmacht's fearsome operational skill was negated by it's logistical incompetence. Fortunately for the the world.

@fiddlersgreen2433 Yeremenko seems to have been reasonably competent. Stalin kept him in active commands until the end of the war.

Yep. Ammunition was a problem for the Germans throughout the war because it consumes resources so voraciously.

You think he was going to tell his officers that he told the Russians everything he knew?

Eremenko was wounded three times during the war. He may not have been too bright but he was certainly brave.

@Observer29830 It helps relieve the monotony.
