  5. I've worked as a chef for 9 years in a UK pub trade. So not restaurant levels cheffing, I do that in my own time. But the point is as a chef, who can read the ingreidents on the "chickless goujons" I know it's literally made of preservatives, dust of peas, chickpeas,various starches like rice or straight up glucose syrup, E numbers and in most cases rust of titanium ie titanium oxide. It makes things glossy white like that glaze effect on a bakery bun. Titanium Dioxide is a byproduct of heavy industry and for literally the one reason of being a whitening agent it is added to your food. Despite scientific papers showing it screws with the healthy bacteria in your gut. For this reason it's one of the few times you'll catch this Englishmen commending the French cos they banned it in food. More countries should follow suit. It's literally a case of trying to find a way of creating value from an industrial byproduct that would otherwise carry a cost of treatment and storage. The meat free stuff is not good for you. Period. More so if you have IBS, Crohns Disease etc. It's also not good for the planet as claimed. You think meat bought from a local farmer is killing the planet? Nah, that's corporations trying to monopolise the food chain. Hard pass thank you. Support your local farmers where ever possible. I'm a low wage earner but still pay slightly more than I need to buy milk from a regional farmm from a locally owned cornershop (proper old skool, Open All Hours style, they get what you ask for type thing) as opposed to cheaper big supermarket brand. Anyway, foodie rant over.

There's something to be said that Tolkien wanted to make a novel of certain aspects of the tales in question but basically it's a more refined written down version of stories he made up for his kids when going to bed. That's how it all started from what I understand, an English professor with an interest in ancient history and fantasy making up stories for his kids. Do you get more wholesome a foundation than that?

  37. One of my relatives I knew growing up as a kid in a poor 90s UK neughbourhood; he had a VHS copier, a VHS to DVD doohickey and DVD to DVD thingy eventually. Blew my little mind. Their families TV setup was a beastly wooden cabinet with all these cables and big boxes and an even bigger TV on top of it all. Was great cos being poor AF growing up (muh priviledge lol) it was a treat when he made sure to get that latest movie so my family could have a movie night on the cheap. Although there were times he did the camcorder thing. Always made me laugh when a shadowman would stand up and do an awkward walk off screen left or right. Undoubtably someone needed a piss lol.

The Hobbit is a fairly easy read for a kid as it is basically a story wrote for Tolkien's kids but LOTR was difficult for 11 year old me. Plus it is using a form of English that is increasingly outdated, not as bad Shakespeare but you can tell it was wrote in a different time period. But then again I have Dyspraxia which is like Dyslexia but messes with balance as well so learning to read was difficult in the first place. Oh and single hardest book to read award I personally award to Stalingrad by Antony Beever. An absolute tome of knowledge wrote in such a way that even a mate of mine with multiple masters degrees in various fields passed the book back to me unfinished. Not because he was not interested in the largest battle of all time but because he could not keep up with the authors narrative choices that jump all over the god damn place. One moment you, as the reader, are in a maggot infested Red Army field hospital built into a crevice on the banks of the river Volga and the next you are in Berlin earlier in the war. Therein having a finer/background detail of Barbarossa explained via Ribbentrop or Molotov. Or just a random experience someone had the author wanted to include. Top notch book. You should read it if you did indeed read all that just now lol.

Shallow fried chicken coaked in wholemeal rye flour mixed with a bunch of different herbs,spices and seeds for extra fibre. Takes about 5 minutes to prep, 3-4 minutes to cook and so long as you like spicy food it is delicious. And really quite lean calorie wise compared to premade supermarket stuff and packed full of nutrients and fibre. 50g wholemeal rye flour 1g parika 1.5g smoked/hot praprika 1g cayenne pepper 1.5g oregano 1g chilli powder 1g gram chilli flakes 1g garlic granules 1g onion granules 1g seaseme seeds 1g chia seeds. Enough to do 6 large chicken breats. You will need to pound flat the chicken before rolling in the flour mix so they cook quickly and evenly on a medium heat. Serve with whatever you fancy, chips salad rice etc. I normally just throw it in a wholemeal breadbun with a little mayo or sweet chilli for dipping.

I've become an owner of a Lurcher these past 3 weeks. previous owner could not walk him enough, had a bunch of kids and a job etc so me or kennels. 3 weeks of 3 x walks per day now and it's done myself and him wonders. His problem behaviors, barring his lockdown pupper confused interactions with other dogs being walked, hsve melted away. Bottom line. Pets of any description come with responsibility. It's telling of the owner if they skip on due responsibilities, more so if they are in position to compensate for their lack to provide for a living creature.

Then there’s the whole automation thing. There was a time people had to place their order through a server. Now with the rise of apps eejit customers can order at their table and almost without out fail complain about their order that they did not place correctly.
