As an Englishman can I say, long live Russia and glory unto her. Pisses me off that everyday people can not see how we in the west are the aggressors in a new cold war that birthed a SMO in response to our can kicking over Minsk. Russia's concerns RE Ukraine are more well founded and indeed noble than anything my lot have claimed re Iraq, Afghanistan,Libya and Syria. So Za vas paschim N slava Russiya.

It baffles me why Kiev claims it even wants Crimea. People think this all started in 2014 but nah, 1994 Crimean referendum on becoming independent. In 1992 the Crimean admin tried to just form a republic but Kiev was having none of it, ironically due to it being unconstituional. Seems to me there is no love lost between Kiev and Crimea so why say there cna be no peace until places like Crimea are returned? Oh yeah. Because Kiev does not want peace.

As a westerner (UK) I have much more respect for a battle doctrine, that expects those committing X number of lives to a given objective, to also expose themselves to the dangers of the front; than I do for Western doctrines of being embarrassed because you lost anything above an NCO. I’ve produced much consternation in my circle of influence by pointing out there is a big difference between ordering stuff to be blown up from behind a NCO telling an operator to blow that thing on a screen up and what the Russians are doing. IMO Russian will soon, if not already does, have the largest experienced army in the world. What do we have in the west to compete? A rainbow of pronouns. The absolute state of the west. It’s embarrassing. Almost as embarrassing as having multiple modern Russians complement the greatest officer Corps the world has ever known as seen during “The Charge of The Light Brigade” whilst also lamenting the passing of said world class UK officers due to woke agendas; as I have talked military/political with them. I think I’ve gone from sympathetic understanding, to soft support to outright rooting for Russia these past few months. If only because Russia’s actions have thrown a massive monkey wrench into “The Great Reset” and there is massive hypocrisy re Ukraine given America’s monroe doctrine and the shock and awe tactics used in Iraq.

The whole thing about not being able to fight in the winter is that it’s kinda a European thing as opposed to Slavic. Seems to me people in the west are projecting over the whole winter is coming guff. Well, in terms of Russia not being able to field an army during winter. For once I was not at work so caught this one quickly, just in time to demolish my hot shot parmo takeaway. Those in the north of England know what I mean by that term "parmo" :) There may be a heat wave on but meh. I got naughty food to eat and excellent analysis to listen to as I chow down. That’s friction with air creating a plasma sheath. Such things destroy radar returns. Good luck targeting the missile with current weapon systems let alone scoring a 100% success rate at shooting them down.

So ya know this notion that the northern front was a holding tactic to pin forces in Kiev? Well I read someone musing on the possibility that Russia has enough corps in place for a major move on Odessa. The stated Donbass offensive is yet another bait and switch/holding tactic with the added bonus of liquidating Ukie manpower more so than RF forces could around Kiev. Big if true, landlocked Ukraine?

He's ex forces and when he talked to me about it you should have seen the look on his face when I explained what happened to the "Reddit Legion." A war of attrition that directly impacts working class people like me the west over due to the feckless politicians support for a country with no alliance nor treaty in place. They, the political rulers, had their chance re sanctions and funding Ukraine. Time for old school diplomacy that does not take into account modern first world perceptions of right and wrong. Might is right some say, careful what you wish for say I as I view an emboldened Russian culture thriving on the wall of opposition the west threw at them for doing what we basically did in a bunch of countries but for more justified reasons. Personally as an Englishman that is firmly stuck in “the wage cage” I’d love to take up Siberian Homesteading via the Russian initiative to encourage development in Siberia but as is. I’ve suffered 2 work accidents that have damaged my spine so homesteading is not advisable and also it”s hard to build up a small amount of money to make such a move or even a lesser one that leverages my chef skills in somewhere more developed like St Petersburg. Otherwise as a liberty minded Briton I’d move to Russia. That is why I continue to torture myself in Europe under a ruling class that hates me. I hope this helps you understand why asking someone why hey don’t just move to Russia is an asinine line of thinking.

@Mark-xv5lb Fun fact. After 2014 there was an edict that the Russian defense armaments industry had to domestically source their own chips and in general all raw materials needed. Russia has the ability to manufacture more long range missiles. Don't fall for the sanction shite. Iran has being sanctioned for how long but they are still producing drones that outperform the switchblades of NATO from what I can discern.

FYI a high intensity firefight involving 1000 men would chew through that munition stockpile in less than 24 hours. Also OP said nothing about retreat or mass desertion. There are none because as this video points out it's DPR and LPR militias who make up the bulk of the forces. They would not desert and it would appear they were pulled back. As for the armour. Whenever someone tells me Russia is struggling with arms/ammo/missiles I gleefully inform them that Russia has an entire city dedicated to munitions manufacture. The city, prior to sanctions anyway, supplies 1/5th of global demand. Yeah, I’m totally sure Russia is struggling to produce stocks of whatever it’s army needs. I’d wager that Russia is well placed to out produce the MIC of the west. We’re still suffering from legacy lockdown supply chain issues, suffering from wokeness and an overly influential green lobby, while facing an energy shortfall. A lot of western production has being offshored as well so if other countries stop playing ball NATO powers are screwed on the industrial output front. So maybe these claims about a last surge of missiles is actually more reflective of news media outlets in Britain. A last surge of propaganda as they run out of options. As for America and the possibility of Biden being prematurely ejected from the white house before 2024, there is a hitch. Kamala Harris is next in line should Biden bow out or be forced out before then. She would continue the same policies of the swamp. Even if you got her out of the way given she is arguably less popular than Biden one would still face the chance of Nancy Pelosi as President of USA. Personally I hope Biden makes it the distance so it’s a showdown between sleepy joe and Donald Trump in 2024. But I will concede that it’s more likely Biden will be out of rhe picture by then given his all too obvious cognitive decline. I thought it was bad in 2020 but watching some of those videos/debates back Biden was actually more coherent back then. It’s only being 2 years and now his average speech is genuinely baffling. Anyone who thinks Crimea should remain a part of Ukraine really has not done their homework. It is beyond asinine that serious people, let alone nations, call for it despite the litany of evidence that amounts to Kiev and Crimea have no love to share. So let them seperate. Pretty decent of you. It’s like in the UK we have The Poppy. It is a symbol to honour the ultimate sacrifice that soldiers face in war. IE giving their life in service of their country. Now what some people don’t realise, both in UK and abroad, is that wearing a poppy is not only to honour British fallen but all soldiers that make that sacrifice in honest duty. The next time people in the UK expect me to wear a poppy I will do so expressly in honour of the fallen of the Ukraine War no matter whose side they belong too. Well. Fallen that did not goose step into an early grave of course.

I invest in UK listed stocks on the side of burger flipping full time on zero hour contract. So don’t think me some rich big shot but I have a window into British investor sentiment on some UK listed stocks with Russian assets. Long and short of it most of them seem to think this some kind of huge Russian defeat and cannot understand why Russian media is painting this withdrawal in a good light. It’s almost as if they don’t understand the Ukraine forces now have a hostile river crossing to deal with if they are indeed to retake Kherson. It amazes me that otherwise rational, intelligent and skeptical people have swallowed the kool aide on all things Ukraine/Russia. They genuinely think Putin is about to accept a face saving deal with the west off the back of this Kherson thing. Truly baffling. Finally take care Alexander. Being ill is no fun.

Do you know what breaks my heart the most about this? 45:35 We in the West had the chance to pull Russia away from the CCP even after 2014 but now I cannot see that happening in my life time and I'm 34 so quite some years to go hopefully. Pax Americana was always going to end but I worry that it will end with a dominant CCP and that's the last thing Humanity needs. Best I can hope for at this point is the old adage of hard times making hard people so that the west may get off the woke track and back to a more pragmatic approach rooted in reality cos right now I reckon our armies would get curb stomped in a proper confrontation. I wish I could share the photos with y'all. It really was restaurant level parmo made by moi. From the handmade breadcrumb to bechamel sauce, salad and herby garlic mayo. Only thing I could have done better is either rear the chicken myself or made my own chips as opposed to using store bought frozen lol. The parmo was topped with fresh red chilli, chestnut mushrooms,sweetcorn and spring onion (I believe Americans call that green onion, the little long stemmed ones). Cheese was a mix of mild Cheddar and Red Leicester (a British orangy stronger cheese, gives great visual contrast to the whiter chedder) Twas quite a rounded meal given all that salad. I use chicken thigh for parmo as well, most people use breast but breast is easy to overcook when doing parmo, thigh is not. Anyway. I am not a military expert but I am something of a food expert....tehe. The audio listening was as per usual excellent. My thanks Alexander and thank you to those who found my inane waffling agreeable.

I mean, unlike most British people, I do own some guns but they are ww2 deactivated antiques so I cannot fire them even if I did have the ammo for them. Russia kept Iran at arms length out of an ambundance of caution given Uncle Sam really does not like Iran even if Uncle Sam was at fault back in the 50s and there was that questionable bombing. Brit here, been at work all day and kept hearing on the radio that an energy company has said to expect blackouts between 4pm and 7pm im January and February. A government spokesperson has said that it is unlikely to be the case. Yeah, it’ll be worse XD You know something is legit when a government spokesman comes out and denies it. @Andy-P Russia is drafting, not conscripting. There's a difference. For example a conscript is someone with no military experience whereas a draftee does have military experience and has being called up.

@Andy-P They can flee the country but it would be in breach of their contractual obligations as someone that served at some point. Same thing happens in the west during times of war EG Obama's Afghan "Troop Surge" led to a draft of which some dodged it I would imagine. Quite rightly given the reasons they were being drafted imo. As for combat experienced Russians fleeing the draft. I dunno so much, I get the feeling it's more the kind of people in the west that fall under the SJW trope who are fleeing an imaginary order. Some tens of thousands so not much in the grand scheme of things.

If NATO troops get involved directly then I, as a proud Englishman, fail to see how Article 5 could be implemented without any kind of irony. We keep on pushing and poking but act like any kind of Russian pushback is unwarranted. Nah. NATO is aggressing by so steadfastly supporting a non NATO country that is literally on Russia’s doorstep but also allowed itself to be used as a western globalist playground. Call ,e callous but state benefits provided to unproductive people is very much part of the UKs problems. When you tax productive workers to the point work does not pay, so that unproductive people can enjoy a higher standard of living than low wage workers, then you are going to have a bad time economically as that is not sustainable.

When I researched it early into the SMO it apparently accounted for 1/5th of the global output of all munitions. And people think Russia is having ammo issues. How cute.

They just lobbed hundreds of missiles at Ukraine despite us being told Ruskies were out of missiles as far back as March. Oh and Dresden was a British ww2 war crime ie a firebombing campaign against a non military target during the latter stages of ww2 when air superiority was achieved by the allies. It was beyond uncalled for and a travesty of British claimed morals then and now. The point of Dresden is to counter romantic rose tinted first world eejits that romanticise things they don't understand. Just because the Blitz backfired on Germany does not mean a coordinated missile strike against energy, command and transport infrastructure will cause people to fight with renewed vigour. It could very well turn the people against their government. More so when one considers the crimes of Kiev against it's own these past 8 years. It's not quite the us Vs them scenario some want it to be in the west.

Russia has an entire city dedicated to munitions manufacture all the way from .22 to artillery shells. That one city prior to 2022 supplied 1/5th of total global supply of munitions supply. The combined efforts of NATO MIC, as of 2022, capacity are of questionable scope to that one city. US generals have raised issues over America's military ability to field a properly armed army given the amount of military donations to Ukraine. US is not even in a position to resupply it's HIMARs stocks for the next 2 years without direct investment in more capacity. Procurement takes time. You cannot just magic up industrial capacity.

I forget the unit name but during ww2 when America was in the island hopping stage of the Pacific Theater there was a unit that was deployed for unusally long time. They held their own throughout however a visiting officer immediately pulled them out. Why? He noticed they were liming their foxholes with human skulls. Spending too long under battlefield conditions will mess with even the toughest amongst us. Ergo I too am nit surprised to hear the bulk of these 6 month military conflicts were not renewed.

I’m no fan of Israel but reading the comments is depressing. As with Russia and Ukraine I say with Israel and Hamas/Palestine. Play dumb games win dumb prizes, Israel has the right to aggresively defend itself in the face of overt aggression. Verily in the case of Israel the aggression was more barefaced than what Russia faced from post 2014 Ukraine. The most depressing part of this situation for me is that I know only a third of Palestinians voted for Hamas but due to quirks of their system Hamas ended up in control. Ergo 2 thirds of Palestine does not deserve to suffer military action but one third does due to the actions of hamas. Also do know that if hamas had simply gone in against military targets my stance would be different but no. They did evil. And no amount of historical arguments about open air prisons justifies that in my eyes. They made themselves fair game and imo they did so in such a way that is utterly evil unto the civvies in their custody. They, hamas, have acted as they did to prevent the normalisation of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia. In doing so they knew full well the price they would pay or rather, the price Palestine/Gaza would pay. Hamas are puppets and I do not respect puppets.

The Belgorod debacle surely must show to even the most casual of western viewers that Kiev cares more about PR stunts and propaganda than it does the fate of it’s own men. To enter Russian territory without air cover is not only utter folly for the troops on the ground; it risks the Ruskies being able to legally escalate the war via it’s constitution allowing for total defense of it’s lands once threatened and indeed under international law the SMO can be upgraded to a declaration of war. Or at least that’s how I understand it. I mean it is basically war already but legally it’s still article 52 of the UN charter ie Special Military Operation. It is Ukraine’s own best interests to ensure that remains that case. Which probably explains Kiev and Western Media trying to spin that the combatants were Russian partisans. If true it’s about time these claims around Russians partisans bore some fruit but frankly I highly doubt it is true to any meaningful degree.

I moved out May 13th. My friggin energy costs just keep rising, as well as my food bills. Paradoxically my herb habit has gotten cheaper by quite a bit and do you know what? That herb price thing happened in 2007-8... Also handy for me I invested some years ago in homebrew equipment and skills therein. So the booze habit is cheap as chips now the brewing cupboard is up and running. I've also being promoted to teamleader the past 8 months and head chef role beckons in 5 monthish. Got some commodity focused stonks as well, some even specifically Ruskie orientated and long before recent events.
