We are the old people who saw a different world, different manners, and a different society all round. They/Us have been saying it was better 'before, because we have the perspective of having a before.'

For instance, social harmony, cultural benefits, and maybe national security.? just saying, when society seems to be getting harder for the locals whose interests should we prioritize? Economic benefits as you describe are part of that neo liberal fundamentalism that proposes such failed concepts as trickle down economics. Why not take the word of the locals?   9. I might be wrong, but i choose to believe that Ukraine will be able to expel Russians from its country, or failing that objective, take over a section of Russia where Ukraine can stick its Russians, those that want to be Ukrainian and are prepared to work for it.
