  1. yes - reduce farm sizes - get rid of big ag and return to the family farm scale. - Self Sufficiency and Sustainability first. Produce what is needed by the people, reduce imports of food and heal the country.

  2. don't for a second believe that Indigenous land care practices can save us; It was these same practices that wiped out the mega-fauna and reduced the entire country to a flora dependent on fire for propagation and survival. Every plant and animal that could not transition to the new environment went extinct. The landscape Australians mistakenly cherish and try to hold onto today, is but a scarred remnant of what was. It no longer functions as it once did, it is broken. Plant fire retardant species; figs, olives, mulberry, and every thing else wonderful and sustaining. Do not plant Australian natives. They are a poverty for even the wildlife reduced to existence upon them. This is my opinion as a Permaculture Designer, land care activist, and hermit of the bush for 35 years. Sandalwood is an exception, and there are a few other species. Eucalyptus, a climax species and not what a desert landscape needs. No to Acacias as pioneers as well ( fire regime).

  4. who wants to be anyone's basket? This is more of that distortion based on some Economic Rationale, a trick of Neo Liberalism where one does not think at all about anything more than the money. In this mindset, one can have money, but nothing much else because all the other things in the world that make for a good life, all disappeared when everyone stopped thinking about them, assuming they will be able to buy their way out of it. Being another country's basket is nothing to be proud of. It is a position that reeks of dependency and corruption. The money power has the population firmly in the grips of a contrived delusion. Ban Big Agriculture and recover your lands. Ban tourism and recover your culture.

  5. it probably rains more because there is less large scale agriculture, hence there are more trees and vegetated areas providing evapo-transpiration, increasing local humidity, seeding cloud formation, reducing temperature and so on. Small well managed agriculture without the Big Ag rapists works well and can be a positive environmental influence if organic practices are used. Big Livestock enterprises are bad, small livestock enterprises are good. It is the Big Business involvement that predictably introduces greed and destruction. Maybe Spain should not try to feed Europe but instead repair itself and become strong and sustainable. Lots of work to do by the look of it. Kick out Big Ag and the problem will solve itself. ( my beliefs stem from my lived experience and research, this is just my opinion. )

  6. Farmers again. Bad Agricultural practice again. Greedist attitudes to true costs and disrespect to the environment. Massive overuse of water resources by agricultural interests. It's always the same players taking us in this direction. Big Agriculture, The Meat & Livestock lobby, The Chemical Suppliers, the Politicians all enable The Farmers to wreck the environment for profits above all else today.
