  4. I just use google's stuff so I can access it everywhere. As much as excel sucks, I hate their sheets more. But I hate open office's stuff even more. Have they improved things? I tried to use them maybe 10 years ago and then again 5-6 years ago but it always felt awkward to me. Google revolutionized searching, but it feels like word processing and spreadsheet programs still really suck. Still so clunky. Obviously everything is backed up two or three or four times offline and nothing actually personally important is run on sheets. Even if I feel stuck using sheets doesn't mean I actually trust those bastards since they stopped trying to not be evil.

  8. We let a couple stay for decades without adjusting their rent much. They were good tenants and who wants to price good people out after they retire? When they moved out, we renovated everything and raised it to market value. If you price control, we'd have had to raise in on that couple every year until they couldn't pay anymore in order to put us in position to get something halfway close to market value. Which would be necessary because it needed substantial renovations and you can't invest to bring it up to the current standard if you're getting 1990s rent checks from it. Government comes in and tries to fix things- it will have unintended consequences.

  9. I use Facebook as a facebook/directory. Basically, to remember that certain people exist. It's just easier on a platfo.... err, publisher, with real names. Unfortunately, even with my willingness to listen to everybody, I still had to put a few people on time-outs because BLM outed them as racist Communists. Corona virus Karens I can deal with... virtue signaling commies can GTFO. I'm still hoping they'll grow out of it though. A couple of them were good buddies. It's like losing someone to a cult... I'll basically keep it forever. I haven't updated in in about 2 years though.

  11. Facebook was fine when it was what it was. A facebook... for college students. Then they got to actually trying to make it profitable. Even opening it up to the general public was still okay. Because it was a convenient way to contact people and keep a basic tab on how people were doing. But algorithms kept getting stronger. And even a long time ago now they stopped even letting you do basic stuff like say your favorites unless those favorites key-worded into something they could collate and sell. I have mine but have been passive on it for years, and it basically became insufferable since May, and definitely June. As for twitter. It's a dumpster fire. It's most useful for two things, at least one of which doesn't require an account. That is to search for information that is important to you but not newsworthy. It's hard to think of examples... but basically if you think, oh, I'll look that up, and then think... there's no way google would know that already or care. Well, twitter might. Second, it's actually good for communication in Asia where the character limitation meant you could actually say things besides flame and troll. Bands or whatever could list all the pertinent gig info in the character limit.

  23. I think this whole thing is being aggravated by the fact basically no one has been in church or whatever for the last 2-3 months. People said meeting in person isn't essential, that zoom church is good enough. But a lot of people have just been online bitching about stuff. Marx himself called it the opiate of the masses, giving immediate comfort and numbing people so they don't revolt. True believers would say it makes them a better person. Whatever the case, all these people haven't gotten their "be a good person" dosage for a few months now and it's showing. Obviously there are other things involved- the white antifa thugs probably weren't going to church or anything anyway but I think if everyone was able to go to a nice black Gospel service yesterday it would have resulted in a better situation overall. Maybe it could have just ended up being pretty much just the antifa assholes out there. If they didn't have some black looters to show on TV what would MSM have done?

It'll probably prevent viruses as well as any other. But it may have some hidden added features. See... vaccines work, but they're based on trust. And who can we trust after the shitshow in November? I trust it like antivirus software. I sure as heck wouldn't want to be online without something since we have antivirus programs available. But it's still worth it, because it's just some company with a profit incentive, not North Korea or whatever. But even as a science major in college with a strong trust in the science of vaccines I can see how people may be black pilled on them if they no longer trust the government. And I can't really blame them because I figure some governments will abuse them as soon as they figure out how.

Government, even if it isn't being self-servicing and is actually out for the betterment of "the people", should want to infringe on most of them in order to better do their job. And if government was actually always good, that may actually be okay. Sure, privacy proponents would disagree, but it doesn't matter anyway. Government isn't always good. And so it's important for there to be some red tape on it to slow it down where it can be abusive.

When you're out and about listen to music or read books or play games or just browse social media. But the key thing it actually had was it's an extension of actual real life since people used real names and posted about themselves. Fake, curated real life like when talking to people at a reunion or wedding or something. But real life. They're real people you know so it was kind of like getting a regular newsletter of what people are up to. But since 2020 real life sucks. Some people who used to be kinda cool 10 years ago outed themselves as commies. Hundreds were found to be bootlickers. And then the site itself went heavy on the censorship on everyone else. The normal updates were gone. Replaced with bullshit. One day when my log-ins expired I just didn't sign back in. One of my phones still has the log-in data so I check it like once every 3 weeks for 20 seconds. No real loss.
